Q. What is Proxeed; and what is its use?
A. Proxeed; is a nutritional supplement especially formulated to support sperm quality. Sperm quality refers to motility, rapid linear progression, count, concentration and morphology (form and dimension). The ingredients in Proxeed have been clinically proven to optimise sperm motility, speed and count – all of which are important for male fertility.

Proxeed is not a herbal supplement. It is formulated from pharmaceutical grade materials based on 30 years of research.

Q. What are the ingredients in Proxeed?
A. Proxeed is a nutritional supplement specifically formulated to optimise sperm quality. Proxeed contains levocarnitine (LC), acetyl-L-carnitine (ALC), fructose and citric acid. Both LC and ALC play distinct roles in the process of sperm maturation and the development and maintenance of optimum sperm quality. Fructose is one of the major energy-yielding substances present in human seminal fluid and citric acid is a key intermediary in the major energy producing pathways used by sperm and other body tissues.

Q. How should Proxeed be taken?
A. Two sachets of Proxeed should be taken each day, one in the morning and one in the evening. Mix each sachet with 120 ml water or orange juice. It is best to establish a routine of taking Proxeed at a particular time each morning and evening. You will increase your chances of remembering to take Proxeed if you take it after or during some event such as with breakfast in the morning and dinner in the evening.

Q. How should Proxeed be stored?
A. Proxeed should be stored at room temperature (15-25ºC). Water, heat and light are harmful to most products and Proxeed is no exception. As long as the packets are unopened, the packaging will protect it. The entire contents should be consumed once a packet is opened and not saved until later. Proxeed should not be stored in direct sunlight or under very hot conditions for prolonged periods of time.

A. Proxeed has a shelf life of 2 years from the date of manufacture. All Proxeed packaging is embossed with an expiry date.

Q. How many days supply is in a box of Proxeed?
A. Proxeed is packed with 30 sachets in each box. Because Proxeed is taken twice daily, each box contains a 15 days supply

Q. What should I do if I forget to take Proxeed?
A. One packet of Proxeed should be taken twice daily (morning and evening) with at least 6 to 8 hours between packets. The morning packet can be taken up until mid-afternoon with the evening packet delayed 6 to 8 hours. If it has been longer than 8 hours, then it is best to omit the morning packet altogether and take the evening packet at the usual time. The evening packet can be taken up until bedtime. If you forget to take Proxeed for several days, simply resume taking Proxeed on a regular basis. If the interruption is prolonged you will delay experiencing the optimum benefits of Proxeed.

Q. What are the side effects of Proxeed?
A. There are hardly any side effects. L-carnitine can cause mild diarrhoea in some patients. This diarrhoea disappears within a couple of days.

Q. How long will I need to take Proxeed?
A. We recommend you take Proxeed for at least 6 months. Optimisation of sperm quality is slow because it takes sperm a long time to mature. Sperm takes on average 74 days to mature and an additional 20-30 days to become capable of fertilization. Because of this, it takes six (6) months to optimise sperm quality. Initial improvement may be seen in as early as 3 months. Proxeed should be taken for at least 6 months or as long as attempting to conceive.

Q. How is Proxeed supplied?
A. Proxeed is supplied as a powder and packaged in boxes with 30 sachets in each box.

Q. How much does Proxeed cost?
A. Proxeed costs £29.95 per box inclusive of VAT. However, substantial discounts apply when ordering bulk quantities on-line.

Q. Who makes Proxeed?

A. Sigma-tau is a company which has been producing pharmaceutical registered and non-registered medicines for more than 30 years. Proxeed is produced under the same manufacturing guidelines used for all pharmaceutical products.

Q. Why is Proxeed made in powder sachets?
A. Proxeed is made in powder sachets to make it easy to take. Because each sachet contains a large amount of powder (5.0 g. or roughly a teaspoonful), a tablet or capsule form would be very large, and most people would have difficulty taking it.

Q. Are there any interactions with prescription or non-prescription drugs?
A. So far, there are no known drug interactions between Proxeed and any prescription or non-prescription drug available. As with all supplements, you should consult with your doctor before taking Proxeed if you are taking any prescription medication.

Q. What is the effect of Proxeed on sperm?
A. The primary ingredients in Proxeed, levocarnitine (LC) and acetyl-L-carnitine (ALC), have been shown to optimise sperm maturation and quality. Levocarnitine is used to carry fats into the cell where they can be used as a source of fuel. Fats are the major source of energy for sperm movement. Acetyl-L-carnitine is a specific form of LC that supplies the cell with a quick form of energy. ALC also is important for the development of cell membranes. Fructose is one of the major energy-yielding substances present in semen. Citric acid is also a key intermediary in energy production.

Q. Why does Proxeed contain fructose and citric acid?

A. Fructose is one of the major energy-yielding substances present in human seminal fluid and citric acid is a key intermediary in the major energy producing pathways used by sperm and other body tissues.
