We recommend the babystart™ BS fertility indicator to the following groups of women

Women wanting to have a re-usable ovulation predictor to help identify their most fertile time each month in order to improve chances of pregnancy.

Women that have been asked to record their basal body temperature each day as part of an ongoing programme of fertility treatment or investigation. The babystart ™ BS fertility indicator is more accurate than a thermometer, it reminds you when to take your temperature and records the results accurately and reliably. Whilst it is collecting the data it will also indicate your fertile and infertile days.

The device can also be used after conception as part of a programme of natural family planning - this is particularly useful for women that cannot tolerate the oral contraceptive pill or simply want to use a natural method of family planning.

The babystart ™ BS fertility indicator uses the traditional basal body temperature and calendar methods to detect and predict ovulation. The babystart ™ BS fertility indicator contains a microcomputer connected to a precision thermometer and it will electronically read your temperature and store the information in order to predict your most fertile time. Therefore, all you have to do is make sure you use the babystart ™ BS fertility indicator every morning before getting out of bed, eating or drinking and the babystart ™ BS fertility indicator does the calculations for you!

The babystart ™ BS fertility indicator results are given by using one of three indicator lights to indicate the women's fertility status each day:

A GREEN light is displayed when you are in the non-fertile phase of your cycle and a RED light is displayed when there is a possibility of pregnancy. If you are planning to become pregnant the babystart ™ BS fertility indicator will automatically calculate the most fertile time and show a FLASHING RED light when the chances of conceiving a child are the greatest.

How effective is the device ?

Clinical trials have shown the babystart ™ BS fertility indicator to reliably indicate the five day fertile period in 94% of women and the three days of the five day fertile period in all women studied. This means that the device is a highly effective aid in predicting ovulation and therefore the best days to have intercourse if wishing to conceive.

You can use device if:

  • You have menstrual cycles lasting between 19 and 39 days.
  • You are not using hormonal treatments which affect the menstrual cycle (e.g., the pill).
  • You are not breast feeding
  • You do not have menopause symptoms
  • You are not taking medication which affects body temperature

How to use the fertility indicator

The babystart ™ BS fertility indicator is very easy to use. Every morning, as soon as you wake up, you should take your temperature. The babystart ™ BS fertility indicator will even remind you with a discrete audible signal each morning.

Once a month, on the first day of your period, you must press the red menstruation button. This date is recorded in the memory and is important for its calculation of fertile days and non-fertile days.

For example:
1) Monday, you take your temperature at 7:00 am, and on Tuesday you do the same etc etc. We recommend that you record your temperature at approximately the same time every day. The babystart ™ BS fertility indicator will need you to record data for one full cycle before it starts to predict your fertile days. The longer you use it the more accurate it tends to become because it harmonises with your own fertility cycle.

2) Once a month, on the first day of your period, you must press the red menstruation button to inform the
babystart ™ BS fertility indicator that you are at beginning of your new menstrual cycle.
