MED-DIRECT INTERNATIONAL LTD INTRODUCES AMNIOTIC FLUID LEAK TEST FOR USE DURING PREGNANCY

Med-Direct International Ltd, a company known for its range of fertility test products, has introduced its first product for use in pregnancy called AmnioSense. This innovative product detects whether a woman has been leaking amniotic fluid and the technology is contained in a panty liner !

This NEW product can be used to identify whether a woman is leaking amniotic fluid which could indicate that both she and the baby are at risk.

Women who have had an amniocentesis should use AmnioSense for 2-3 days afterwards to check that no leakage is occurring. If a positive result is seen then the midwife or doctor should be consulted right away.

Women having a previous history of preterm labour or premature rupture of membranes should use AmnioSense daily to monitor themselves. This means that they can continue their daily routine assured that they are in safe hands. A negative results provide valuable reassurance and and leakage that might occur is going to be quickly detected. A positive test result means that the midwife or doctor should be contacted right away.

AmnioSense is easy to use:
Each pack contains seven panty liners which is sufficient for 7 days use. The panty liner is simply put into the womans underwear and then she carries on with her daily routine.
At the end of the day or at any time that she suspects a leak of some kind has occurred the panty liner is removed.

The yellow strip is taken from the panty liner and placed in the plastic drying box provided. After a 10 minute wait the strip is inspected - if a blue/green stain is seen then the test result is positive. If it has remained yellow then the test result is negative.

Amniotic fluid leakage has until now been difficult to detect reliably largely because of urine leakage which is quite common in pregnancy. AmnioSense can tell the difference between amniotic fluid and urine leakage which is a big step forward in pregnancy management.

Premature rupture of membranes presents a serious risk to mother and baby - the risk to the mother is infection and pre-term delivery (about 40% of all pre-term deliveries are associated with premature rupture of membranes). The risk to the baby is infection, blindness, cerebral palsy, deafness, cognitive impairment and possible death (pre-term delivery is most common cause of death in neonates). Amniotic fluid leakage occurs in 30-40% of preterm deliveries and its reliable early detection using AmnioSense will allow women to confidently seek medical assistance promptly.
